Opinionated Opinions

Universities do take race in mind, but aren't racist in my opinion. When universities look for aplicants they look for all different types of abilities, like character, academic achievements, and determination. Universities are just trying to make the best of their students with what they give them such as cultural backrounds and ideas which can change and help the way students take on life. The goal is to extend their knowledge of the world with people from other places. It is very true how most universities chose a range of ethnic groups over the average white American to diverse their college. They want a broader range of students on campus because it makes their college look better. If I applied to a college it would be easier for me to get in than an average American even if we have the exact same GPA and test scores because I'm half-Colombian. Only half and they consider me as more diverse. I think this article is acurate and that schools do this for a good reason. Insuring all students can take advantage of learning from other students cultures and lifestyles.

The Epic of Reading Blogs

Tablet IX really focused on Gilgamesh being alone. Gilgamesh went on this journey to understand why he was without Enkidu and to mourn his passing.
This really reminded me of the show Survivorman. This man goes on survival journeys by himself.     This one episode he was climbing a mountain and was feeling sorrowfull and terrible as he climbed the mountain. It got harder and harder for him to breathe, like Gilgamesh. He felt alone and without companion, like Gilgamesh. He then finally found a person to save him from his journey when he got to the other side of the mountain, just like Gilgamsh. Gilgamesh felt alone and without companion because he was alone. His friend that he loved died and he needed a journey of his own to realize why such things happen. He went on this journey of fear of death and of fear that Enkidu is dirt and clay.
As for Tablet X, Why does Gilgamesh break the Stone Things? Why does he break the Urnu-snakes? Who really is the boatman? What does Gilgamesh expect to find on the island? These questions I have thought and hope to understand and figure out the answers to.

Super Power

My one super power would be super speed. With this power I could run as fast as I ever wanted to be. I could be somewhere faster than any jet, and wouldn’t ever need to pay for a plane ticket or car. I could run so fast I can run on water and run so fast no one could see me. I would use this power neither for good nor evil. If I used it for good I would always have to be on the lookout for things gone wrong and it would take the enjoyment out of it. Then if I did use it for evil that would be hard for me to stand. I would use it for being a professional runner. I could run in marathons as slow as I could and still win. I would run in the Olympics and beat Usain Bolt in the 100 meter dash. Then show him he was too cocky.  I could run out to Juan Valdez and back in the middle of class and no one would notice. I could run to England for a day vacation and save an enormous amount of time when I don’t need a plane.  This power would be a great power. Unlike any other power if I got in a fight with another super hero I would be to fast they wouldn’t see me coming. This is a great power that  I would like to have.

Tablets IV and V

When Gilgamesh and Enkidu went out on the journy and Gilgamesh felt like he needed to do it on his own, but then realizing Enkidu helped him find water and was a great companion made me think. I also had a time like this, but not in the sense of slaying a demon. I had a giant science project I had to do. I thought i needed to complete it and it was causing me much stress. When my brother came to me and helped me realize i wasnt alone, I had him and he could guide me through this project. Like how Enkidu and Gilgamesh built the gate made of cedar, my brother and I completed a great project and knew we're never alone.
